Transfers from Salvador to Itacaré in Bahia Brazil

Itacaré is approximately 270 km from Salvador Airport. This is the shortest distance, which includes a sea crossing between Salvador and Itaparica Island. On this route, the transfer takes around 7 hours. The longest route, entirely overland, is approximately 420 km and loops around the Bay of All Saints. It takes around 8 hours to get there..

Itacaré is approximately 75 km from Ilhéus Airport. It takes about 1 hour and 30 minutes to get there.

For passengers wishing to travel to Itacaré from Salvador airport, we suggest looking for flights arriving in the city before 5 am. This will allow you to be in Itacaré before 2:00 pm. For the return trip, ideally your chosen flight should take off from Salvador airport after 7pm. This will allow you to leave Itacaré around 9:00 am and be in Salvador airport around 6:00 pm.

How to get to Itacaré? You have to go from Salvador airport to the São Joaquim ferry terminal. The trip takes about 40 minutes. At the São Joaquim ferry terminal, you will take the crossing and board ferry boat catamaran that makes the crossing in 1 hour to the island of Itaparica. When you arrive at the Bom Despacho ferry terminal in Itaparica, you will disembark and inside the terminal there is a small bus station (called Bom Despacho) where the buses that go to the cities in the south of Bahia are parked. One of these buses runs between Bom Despacho bus station and Itacaré bus station. To return from Itacaré to Salvador, the route is reversed.

Is there a private transfer between Salvador Airport and Itacaré? Yes, Bahia Transfer e Turismo offers private ground transfers to Itacaré. In this option, our operators take passengers from Salvador Airport (or any other point in the city) to their hostel or hotel in Itacaré. If there are no obstacles on the road (such as construction), this transfer can take up to an hour less. It is more comfortable, but also more expensive. However, taking into account the price differences between plane tickets to Ilhéus and Salvador, the cost of a private transfer may be worth it (especially for large groups of passengers). We used Bahia Transfer to organize our entire journey from the airport, including taxi transfers, the ferry crossing, and the bus transfer from Bom Despacho to Itacaré – and everything worked perfectly, both on the way there and on the way back.
